He-yo…. I’m guessing any young newly qualified driver out there would of already found out is the shear cost of getting yer car insured. I know as I’m 18, "male" which supposedly makes me high risk so the cheapest insurance I got was £3820 and that’s only for third party, and the car is only a 1.2 litre Renault Clio.

My instructor mentioned that he heard a scheme that’s being done for young new drivers, companies called:

Young Banana &
Young Marmalade

The idea is that these companies have merged together with insurance companies to fill a gap in the market which is us young drivers.

The scheme is that you buy a new car or a nearly new car with these guys and the car will come with affordable insurance. I had a look at it and decided to get a quote just out of interest with a new car.

So I selected the nearly new car category and went with the new shaped Renault Clio. You can select to buy the car straight away or get it financed over a period of months with 60 being the longest, I got £150 monthly payment as the average which is just payment for the car. The first years insurance came as £1635, (got all excited and jumping, over - reacting) provided that your parents have a good record they are added to the policy for free.

I was thinking that it was too good to be true, new car, affordable insurance. But then could be too good of a deal to go without some hidden catches.

I dunno what makes me suspicious about these sites but the more I investigate into it the more I feel that this could become quite expensive.

When I investigated Young Marmalade in more depth it was the insurance that got to me cause my first initial thought was that you pay for the insurance continually with them as long as you own the car, but it looks more like a 12 month deal that has to be renewed each time….

The car as well comes out cheaper then its usual retail price (if new) or usual price for its mileage (if nearly new) so I started to think that theres a one off payment at the end of the contract to own the car..

What do you guys think of this?
Before you guys answer the insurance quote I got of over £3000 was with my parents added into the policy as main drivers and me as a named driver…!

However what Tin-God is suggesting is illegal and can invalidate your policy.

There is no cheap way to insure your first car. Can’t understand your quote of almost £4000. I’m guessing that this is, as another suggested, an attempt to get some free advertising for the sites you have links to. It is indeed a nice try but anyone who is insuring there first car will know that £1000-£2000 is the going rate. Anything that offers it for less is probably too good to be true or illegal.

what would i be paying if i got a normal full coverage on this eclipse? and please no go to this link and get a free quote just give me an estimate, thanks

From a dollar a month to $1,000 a month. Depends entirely upon how you drive, how old you are, where you live, what insurance company you have, if you’re paying the insurance, under your parents’, or if they’re paying your insurance. There is no solid estimate. I would suggest checking some of the more well-known car insurance companies out there to see what they quote you.
I personally have Progressive with liability coverage, no glass, no collision. My insurance per month is about $70. However, I am 24 years old, have one speeding ticket (90/55), one accident in which I was not at fault, and drive a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD.
Compare that price to my old vehicle; 1990 Geo Metro 3 cylinder I was quoted approximately $150 a month. It all depends on the vehicle, how old you are, your driving record, and what company you go with.

Ok….first of all, I must say this is not the right way of doing things. But just being curious of what you guys think of.

I went online to get my Car insurance quote. And everything went ok, and when it comes to payment, it gives me "7 DAYS TO PAY IT". On the 7th day, if not paid, then the cover will be cancelled.

I am thinking, why dont I just wait till the 7th day. And if I dont have any accident, then I go online to get another quote and the insurance cover date STARTS from that 7th day. That way, I dont have to pay a cent and my car was covered for 7 days for FREE.

AND IF I CONTINUE TO DO THAT…………..FREE COVER FOREVER.~~!!

so….will I be out-smart by the insurance company? Or it is one way of making use of this loop-hole?

Answer to Alex Comment:

The 7 days is for me to Pay the bill. During that 7 day period, my car is insured. So if I crash my car on the 6th day, then I just pay the bill on 6th or 7th day, and they still pay for the damage repair.

IF I DONT CRASH MY CAR by the bill payment date. Then I just ignore that quote and dont pay it. Then get a new quote and enjoy the 7-day bill payment duedate. This can continue on and on and on.

Guys….we live in a economic crisis period. Money are hard earned. Thought this would be one way of saving some money or at least some interest while I am paying this on my Credit card.

Hahah laughed so hard at this. Sounds exactly like something I would do. I suggest you read the small print and check the website, and then go for it. But it would be hilarious if you crashed and went in for cover and they showed you a sheet saying "we do not pay for damages in this period" ahah.

Recently I just bought a car and I’m looking for great deals on car insurance in the MN area or wherever. I’ve applied to almost four different insurance companies to get free online quotes (ex: esurance, progressive, etc.) and they’ve been asking if I’ve had driving violations in the past three or five years. Now my question is, If I had traffic violation tickets back in WIS, do I have to list them down since I’m living in a different state? or what’s up?
